Dear Family and Friends,​

I would like to share with you what I am doing with the next few months of my life in hopes that you will remember me in your prayers. In early January, I will leave for Lagos, Nigeria for six months through an organization called YWAM, also known as Youth With A Mission.

If you have not heard of YWAM, they describe themselves as “an international volunteer movement of Christians from many backgrounds, cultures and Christian traditions, dedicated to serving Jesus throughout the world”. They are very well known throughout the Christian community and also highly reputable. Many of my own friends or peers have traveled across the world with them. If you have heard of them then you probably don’t need me to tell you how great they are.
The base I will be stationed in is in Lagos, the largest city in Nigeria. The first three months we will be there doing what is called DTS, or Discipleship Training School. This is where we learn about God, His purposes, how to make Him known, how to find our own place in serving God and also what we will be doing on the three months outreach. The latter three months is the service outreach DTS, in which we will be traveling around Nigeria. The particular DTSI am doing is “Business Focused”. I hope that I can learn how to best serve God in a business environment through this mission. I chose a business focused DTS because I am an Accounting major at Azusa Pacific University.

I really am excited for what God is going to do in my life, my team’s lives and the lives of the people and culture around us. Pray that God’s glory will be known in amazing ways this year.
Pray for my team’s love for God and for others during this trip. Pray God will ease and comfort us with our homesickness, culture shock and health.
